A soft breeze fluttered against the wind, and pushed past whoever and whatever was in it’s way. The entrance to the city wasn’t anything spectacular, and this city just felt as normal as the rest. Red eyes seemed to almost follow the wind, taking in every and any difference in the horizon, as a good hunter should. The red orbs belonged to a woman, she was beautiful in a mysterious way. As if she was a dark hole, beautiful and dangerous, the kind of woman who sucks in people, and once they are caught- it seems the woman’s mystique could keep them there, if she truly was trying to be that way.
Her aura just drew a lot of attention to herself. She could smell the wind take her scent away in the horizon. Most would just assume that she is a normal dire wolf perhaps going through the city, or passing it. But she wasn’t, she had been a hunter of her own kind, at least those who had lost their humanity, those who had turned on their own kind. She didn’t care the race, she didn’t care if the creature could fly or shoot fire, she had her guns.
She took another step in, she would suit the stereotypical Hunter, she had been wearing a rather showy corset that gripped her entire bodice, it was peach colored with tight gripping white pants that fit perfectly with her form. Her eyes were a glowing red, and her hair a wild short mess, that seemed to only make her appear more attractive, this was Riley Spade.
Her red eyes focusing on the city before her, she could hear the cars in the city, the people continuing on with their normal lives. She sighed, she couldn’t help but to wonder if there were mutants like her here, she knew one thing- Kohan was here.. she knew that for sure. She walked forward casually, as if she wasn’t an out of towner, she walked like she’s been here before. She sighed softly, her nose twitching, she closed her eyes.
So much to do, she could start seeing people, and before she knew it- she had been inside of a park. She gave a soft smile as another soft breeze went through her hair, dragging her scent around the city- any creature like her- any non human would be able to smell that there was a new dire wolf in the town, it was an odd scent one of blood and lavender, mixed with an earthy scent. She continued to walk, no worries about who'd she attract, she elt safe with a hidden gun against the small of her back and a knife hidden at her boots.
More and more people seemed to appear, they all seemed to happy. Happy joggers jogging, happy mothers with their children,it was almost like there was no issue arising, she gave a soft sigh closing her eyes and stopping, leaning against a tree. Her hair shadowed her face as she rubbed her temples softly with her hands,no one could know though- no human could find out what she was.
A monster.

A NEW SCENT [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #17181A, border: solid #ffffff; 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] the soft breeze continued to flow past zen as he walked down the sidewalk, gently flipping up the bottom edges of his hair. it was nice, this breeze. the gryphon hadn't gotten a chance lately to just go and hang out at the park -- it was a place where he loved to go so he could just relax and do pretty much nothing else. people watching was always one of the more amusing things he did there, although he would never speak aloud the thoughts he came up with, even if he was asked. hell, he wouldn't even make faces. there were just some people who were angry enough that if they caught him making a face in their general direction, they'd walk over and threaten him. and zen was never in any position to fight anyone. well, maybe, if he tried hard enough. but probably not.
the man could see the entrance to the park just up ahead, and the thought made him smile. it always felt like the longest walk to get here, even though it only took him like five or ten minutes to do so, depending on whether or not he took his time getting there. but nevertheless, he was here. faintly, he wondered if the man from last week was here selling hotdogs at his little stand again. that would be awesome right about now.
after walking into the park, zen took a quick glance around, wondering how many people were here and if there were any benches nearby that were still open for him to lounge on for the next few hours. with a small smile, he noticed one a little ways away that had yet to be occupied. picking up the pace, he fast-walked over to it and plopped down gingerly upon its wooden surface. it was a little uncomfortable, but relaxing none the less. he sort of reclined into it, slouching down so he barely rest his head on the top piece of wood. he wasn't sure how long he'd sat here, dozing off, before he opened his eyes again.
nearby, there was a girl who stopped to lean against a tree. she started rubbing her temples a bit and zen frowned, wondering if she had a headache. or maybe it was heat exhaustion? hopefully that wasn't the case! it was indeed hot outside, but zen didn't have any water on him currently. he tilted his head a bit, and spoke aloud for the first time in what seemed like hours. "excuse me, are you alright?" he was pretty sure there was a convenience store nearby where they could by advil or something if she needed it.
the wind picked up a little again, and zen placed his right hand on the bulky yellow-beige hat that adorned the top of his head. no way he'd let his hat fly away! his parents had gotten it for him when he was really little because he'd liked the way the poof-iness looked. he still wore it, almost every day now. but enough of that! he brought his attention back to the girl, wondering if she'd respond to his question.

It had been silent, just the thought of herself being what she was- it almost disgusted her. She sighed and before she could push off a tree a voice echoed through the area, making her eyes shoot open and her hands to drop to her side. Her nose twitching, a particular scent emitting from the strange man, she couldn’t quiet place it yet though- in all honesty. Her cold gaze would lay on the man, her eyes matched the intensity of the sun, and they seemed to be void of most emotions, a serious look on her face.
She paused- he had simply been worried. She bowed respectfully. ” I am fine.” she spoke with a nod of her head as she stared to the man, observing every feature on his face, her eyes canning over his body. She had been sizing him up, it was a normal trait of Riley’s to suspect anything, she wasn’t exactly a trusting type- borderline paranoid. She cleared her throat and pushed herself off from below the tree, and away from the tree trunk taking slow steps towards the stranger.
She didn’t really know her way around the city though, and it did appear rather big. She sighed her hands resting on her hips, as she kept her distance from the stranger but didn’t make it obvious. She couldn’t tell how old this person was, but she felt as if he’d be younger then her, which hurt her already bruised ego at that. ”I’m new to town..” she began with a defeated sigh, rubbing the back of her neck, her entire body had been sore from traveling, so she felt a bit of a relief knowing that she had indeed gotten to her destination.
”It would be greatly appreciated, if you could perhaps show me to the exit of this park?“ she spoke with a nod of her head. Another breeze came by and she could tell this was no man, but she had no right to judge him- to assume just because he wasn’t completely human that he was a monster, just as Kohan was. He didn’t seem like one, he just seemed like a worried civilian, but she figured she could get some information out of him, and it would be just enough because she didn’t think the exit was too close.
She smiled a small one, a wise smile. ”The name’s Riley, by the way.”

A NEW SCENT [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #17181A, border: solid #ffffff; 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] zen sat quietly, waiting to see if she'd answer his question. and if she didn't, well, he supposed he would just lapse back into silence and mind his own business. he knew from experience that if people ignored you the first time, they probably didn't want to talk, so why pester them further? he couldn't say he'd ever ignored anyone on purpose himself, but he couldn't say the same for other people. but before he even had a chance to finish his train of thought, she responded at last that she was fine. with a blink of the eyes and slight tilt of the head, zen nodded.
the girl took a few steps toward him but stopped as if keeping a safe distance away from him. he didn't blame her, he would have done the same thing. besides, if she was a mutant, she'd be hesitant of others out of fear of people finding out what she was, and if she was a human, she'd still be hesitant because she might suspect him of being a mutant. given that the latter was true of himself, he didn't give her distance a second thought. well, besides what he already thought about, that is.
after the girl broke down and told zen that she was new in town, the latter smiled a bit, giving a soft chuckle. "nazo is a big city, indeed. if you need a guide, i'd be honored," he offered, wondering if she'd accepted the offer or not. considering the rumors floating around this place, he was sort of surprised that new people came to this town at all unless they were hunters who had heard of the little "issue" that the city had. but this girl, she couldn't possibly be a hunter, could she? she seemed nice enough, although there was something about her personality that suggested that there were secrets being kept. of course, zen only knew her for two minutes, so just about everything about her was secret to him right now. he just shrugged it off.
"oh, the exit? it isn't far from here." he slowly got up from the bench, stretching his arms above his head. he felt a little stiff and figured that he'd at least dozed off for quite some time. regardless, he smiled up at her. "riley? i like it, it sounds pretty. my name is zen, it's nice to meet you." his introduction was brief as he walked over, gesturing with a nod of the head the direction in which they were about to walk. "so, if you don't mind my asking, how come you came to nazo? i know our city has some nasty rumors floating around, so i'm kind of surprised we're still getting visitors." he gave a small laugh.

She paused, and to her surprise the stranger seemed to even offer himself as her tour guide. Her eyebrows slowly raised, curiosity shimmering across her crimson pools. She nodded her head taking a few steps towards him. She would stop a few feet away from him, he’d be honored? She kept her eyes on him, he would notice that the red orbs had barely flickered away from his form, the woman however soon relaxed, well it appeared as if she did.
”Thank you.” she said with a nod of her head, out from under the shade of the tree he would be able to see her better. The woman didn’t seem like the type to normally ask for help, the woman looked more so like a fighter, her body had been well toned- yet she still seemed to keep most of her curves, her outfit gripped her body tightly and she would just appear as a human. Appearances meant nothing and everything at the same time.
She was caught off guard. Not many people complimented her name, her eyes widening a bit and a with a nervous laugh she scratched at the back of her head. Not a lot of people complimented her, and the woman looked a bit comical really- almost as if she didn’t know what to do with that compliment, she cleared her throat, she must have tried out his name a thousand times in her head, she wouldn’t forget who the man was now, she promised herself that.
She walked next to him though, when he started his trek towards the city, he would notice that for a human her footsteps were incredibly soft, and if he was observant he’d start to realize this woman wasn’t much of a human. Her eyes narrowed at his question, but she didn’t narrow her eyes onto him, the horizon, and if he would notice every muscle in her body would tense up. ”...I’m looking for someone.” was all she spoke, her body would tremble a bit at the thought.
The man who forced her into being the beast she was- that devil. She chewed on her lip furiously before forcing herself out of thought, she glanced over to him-”I don’t think i’ve heard of any nasty rumors”Well besides being the current home for a monster she spoke with a curious tone- a well planned out actress. She had to get information some how. She kept her pace slow, she’d need to get all the information she could get.

A NEW SCENT [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #17181A, border: solid #ffffff; 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] the woman before him nodded and thanked him, upon which time zen gave a kind smile. it was always in his nature to help people out and he tried to do so whenever he could. it always seemed to be the case though, that when people first met him, they thought he was just the quiet, careless type who didn't want anything to do with other people. while the quiet part was true, the rest couldn't be further from the truth. zen always enjoyed having company, even if they didn't particularly care for him.
"of course," he stated, nodding his own head as riley stepped out from beneath the tree. now that the sun was shining down on her, he could actually see the shades of her hair and eyes -- which were a brilliant shade of crimson red. he blinked in surprise at their intensity, as if years of knowledge and experience were dwelling in their depths. it was rather mesmerizing really. zen had to wonder how much older she must have been to have eyes like that -- although she didn't look too much older than him at all.
feeling awkward for having thought things like that, he came back to reality just in time to witness her reaction to what he said about her name. she wasn't freaking out, was she? he hadn't meant to insult her or anything, he had just thought that her name sounded very pretty. but she seemed to get over it pretty quickly without anything else needing to be said. she seemed like good company, zen decided.
the two of them were walking now, and without having to look he could tell by her voice that the person she said she was looking for probably wasn't someone who wanted to be found by her. whoever it was, zen wondered what kind of past they had together. or at the very least, what had happened between the two, especially since she'd traveled all this way to find him. but who knew? it could have been a lover for all zen knew, but he wasn't nosy enough to ask her about it.
but when riley said she hadn't heard any of the rumors, he turned to glance at her with a surprised expression. "really? that's surprising." he frowned a bit. "they really aren't too bad, i don't think. unless you believe them, that is," he continued, flashing her a sideways glance before going on. he didn't want to give away that any of the rumors were true -- at least not yet. not until he was sure he was safe. "some people here started a story that there are monsters roaming the city. people that look just like humans that can become monsters whenever they want. sounds kind of strange, but some people would swear on it." he gave a light shrug.
