KAI  FULL NAME: Toru Kai ALIAS: Rarely lets anyone call him anything other than Kai and nicknames are a big no no with him. AGE: twenty six BIRTH DATE: August eleventh SPECIES: Phoenix ORIENTATION: Bi FACE CLAIM: Barnaby Brooks Jr. from Tiger and Bunny DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: He wears thin framed glasses and speaks with an accent. TRANSFORMED BODY: Toru isn't giant, but decently sized at almost twelve feet from the tip of his beak to the end of his shortest tail feather (12.4 to the end of the longest but counting or possibly making up for something hmm? certainly not Toru). He's not on fire and his body is shaped similar to a swans with the long neck and wide wings. His feathers are a light gold with a few red accents. ------------------------------------------------- PERSONALITY Toru has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. He's not very good at expressing compassion or sympathy and believes that someone gets ahead or survives based on their own merit and skills. In a fight he will protect others out of duty only and most often leaves them to fend for themselves. He enjoys a good fight, whether physical or verbal and goes out of his way to spark arguments. He's both book smart and street smart, though he lacks the practical knowledge to put the later to use. With a fiery temper that burns fast and hot he can loose his head, and at the same time it makes it more difficult for him to make friends or acquaintances. Despite his blustery attitude and uncaring actions he is also generous and awkwardly gentle. He's not a bad guy, he just doesn't know how to act like anything other than a cold. ------------------------------------------------- [style=font-family:times; font-size:10; color:fff; width:350px; text-align:justify;] HISTORY Toru was the first son of an English mother and Japanese father. At the time of his birth he and his parents lived in England back in a small backwoods old timey town. Both of his parents were wealthy business people. His father a corporate lawyer and his mother a secretary for an oil refinery's CEO. He lacked little as a child and there were always people around him and fawning over him. At least until his younger sister and brother were born. Sharing the limelight was not something young Toru was alright with. It took him several months and lots of reassurance before he accepted them and even then their rivalries continued into his teen years. Toru was very skilled in the sciences particularly chemistry and math. His parents had high hopes for him, especially when he was able to hack into their bank records. Of course he was punished for the actions, but he was sent to an outstanding private school not long after. However while he was away his sister bloomed into a future surgeon and his brother surpassed them both. As a sophomore in college, his brother, five years younger than him, entered as a freshman. Resentment on Toru's behalf grew as he fell into his brothers shadow. He graduated and took a job as a software programmer and consultant. He was offered a job at the Japanese branch of his new company and gladly accepted. There was major culture shock and his Japanese certainly wasn't the best, but he was able to live on his own, isolated from is family. They didn't need him after all, they had his siblings. At least that's the way it was until he received word his brother was dying of an incurable disease and had been flown to Japan for a trial of an experimental drug. It was the first he'd heard his brother was sick, but visited the hospital nonetheless. He offered to look after his brother at his apartment while his parents tied up business ends and took the supposedly cured man home. A month and a half later his parents were still gone and while out on a walk in the park, Toru's brother collapsed. What came after would forever be blurry in Toru's mind, but there was pain and blood. Lots of it. He woke up in the hospital and was told he had been mauled by a dog. It was only once he was up and limping out the door, that he was told the truth. His brother had turned into a monstrous creature with fangs and claws and attacked him. His brother had been shot and killed in order to save him. Toru spent the next weeks in seclusion, calling out of work and ignoring phone calls and knocks at his door. He didn't remember exactly when it happened or his first few transformations but once he woke up with his room on fire that he had to face facts. Whatever had happened to his brother was happening to him. With time came strict control and Toru only allowed himself to transform outside the city with no one else around. He enjoyed stretching his wings, but was ill at ease over the reaction to the apparent mutations. His ability to use fire in either form came in handy for heating cold coffee and small things, but caution ruled his life. With the start of the chosen and other hunters out for blood, Toru became familiar with fighting. The rebirth from fire ability of his was a shock but he was to busy killing a hunter to freak out.
